(no seriously, they're good)
As you've listened to our podcasts - or looked around the site - you have probably seen or heard advertising from time to time. We hope that you all know that this was not founded as a commercial enterprise, and we actually didn't put any ads in at all until recently. However, we've more than 100,000 Podcast downloads per month alone - and more than that in monthly readers we've come to a few pretty clear conclusion that we need to pay the bills. Listen, our partner offers are great - we fought hard for these prices.
If you don't want to take advantage of partner offers, please consider supporting us on Patreon. It's exactly like public radio; for as little as a $1 a month you can make a huge difference for us, and with more than that you can receive rewards from the ridiculous (Lucas will record your answering machine in movie voice), to prestigious (come guest host a show), to truly meaningful (a free month of The Informed SLP - or even sponsorship of services for a child in need). For more information on Patreon, click the image to the right. Otherwise, keep scrolling for the deals!
This is by far our best deal right now! For only $95 you get their premium plan which includes a suite of unlimited Continuing education and access to patient training resources - down from the normal price of $320 a year. Their content and resources are fantastic - don't forget it's almost time for license renewal!
If you're anything like us and spend WAY too much time in the car, this Audible deal is fantastic. With it you get a 30-day trial and any audiobook you want to choose for free. Personally I recommend anything relevant to us clinicially, like the brilliantly read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks, but then again I also listened to 18 hours ounce of pediatric grand rounds, so to each their own?
For those who haven't used it, Lucidchart is an online diagram application that makes it easy to sketch and share professional flowchart diagrams, whether for brainstorming or planning or sketching out organizations or - my favorite planning out lessons (and having students build their own. Highly recommended, and the plans here at a good price: Free!
There's more down below, but we really NEED to feature this incredible deal from AmpCare. For those not steeped in the Dysphagia world, Ampcare makes therapeutic neuromuscular electrical stimulation technologies. Backed by considerable research and the resounding endorsement of our own Theresa Richard of the renowned Swallow Your Pride podcast, AmpCare has been shown to increase outcomes for patients with difficulty swallowing with the end goal of ending pneumonia and feeding tube insertion for patients with dysphagia. This deal is amazing, though: Only $100 instead of $325 for the ASHA-Certified Effective Swallowing Protocol training, and the ESP Kit is only $649 (it can't legally be discounted). It's a great deal for some wonderful education that will really benefit your patients' lives.
With the holidays coming up, it isn't a bad idea to gift Amazon prime to a loved one with everything that comes with: Videos, music, free Kindle books, and - well - cheaper shipping to send you YOUR present! With this extra awesome deal it's only $5 to send that gift (per month) - but that's still a 30% discount over the normal annual price.
Speaking of Amazon, know anyone too busy to go grocery shopping? I know all of us here can definitely relate. Now with the merger of Amazon and Whole foods, you can get really great food quality for the cost that it takes me - at least - to get to the store and find parking. It's become a lifesaver and comes with a no-obligation free trial.
Finally, my inner clinician is obligated to point out that the Fire 7 kids edition - with its incredible case and amazing warranty - is on sale for $79. This is the perfect choice for many of the kids we work with, either for fun or as a communication device. If you have any questions about finding AAC on a Kindle, email me and I'm happy to help.
